Description

  • Perennial herb with extensive root system.
  • Stems erect, ridged.
  • Leaves in a basal rosette, with wavy, spiny margins and white-woolly underneath.
  • Flower heads red-purple to pink, and surrounded by layers of purplish bracts.
  • Seeds smooth and shiny with a ring of feathery white hairs.
