Early intervention of new and emerging weeds
Weeds can invade new areas, spreading across the landscape both naturally and assisted by human activity.
Finding new weeds early and completely removing them is the best way to stop them from becoming widespread and prevent the need for long-term management.
The Early intervention of new and emerging weeds ( ) handbook guides land managers through the process of:
- detecting new weeds
- deciding if eradication is suitable
- carrying out an eradication response.
Use the following documents with the handbook to assist with detecting and responding to new weeds:
- Early intervention of new and emerging weeds: South Australian resources ( )
- Eradication response plan template ( )
- Weed search plan template ( )
- Field recording template for a weed searche ( )
- Field recording template for weed specimens ( )
