Review of declared plants (weeds)
PIRSA has established a staged review process for all existing declared plants. From time-to-time new plants may be added to the list of declared plants and others will be removed. The review is done in consultation with regional landscape boards, Green Adelaide, industry and the public.
The Minister for Climate, Environment and Water is responsible for determining which plants are declared under the Landscape South Australia Act 2019, with declared plants being added to the List of declared plants in SA ( ) . Declaration may place regulatory requirements on movement, sale, notification, or a requirement for control or destruction.
The landscape boards and Green Adelaide administer the declarations, applying regional strategies and action plans to ensure a strategic approach is taken.
Each review period involves engaging with key stakeholders. PIRSA will:
- Engage directly with landscape boards and Green Adelaide on:
- New plants to be added to the declared plant list
- Existing plants to remove from the declared plant list
- Modifications to existing declarations and declared plant policies
- Engage directly with key stakeholders throughout the review process.
- Receive input and feedback from stakeholders and the public through the YourSAy website (open in September)
At any point in time people can provide comments and feedback on declared plants directly to their local landscape board.

- List of new plants proposed to be added to the declared plant list
- List of existing declared plants to be reviewed in 2026
