About the policy
PIRSA wants to hear from you about the proposed new draft Aquaculture (Zones – Franklin Harbor) Policy 2026.
The new draft policy aims to:
- provide security of investment for existing marine-based aquaculture operations in the area
- facilitate limited sustainable growth opportunities to maximise benefits to the community from the state’s aquaculture resources.
The draft policy has been developed in consultation with:
- Franklin Harbor Oyster Growers
- South Australian Oyster Growers Association
- District Council of Franklin Harbour
- key government agencies, including:
- Environment Protection Authority
- Department for Infrastructure and Transport
- Department for Trade and Investment
- Department for Environment and Water
- Department for Housing and Urban Development.
