About the policy

PIRSA wants to hear from you about the proposed new draft Aquaculture (Zones – Franklin Harbor) Policy 2026.

The new draft policy aims to:

  • provide security of investment for existing marine-based aquaculture operations in the area
  • facilitate limited sustainable growth opportunities to maximise benefits to the community from the state’s aquaculture resources.

The draft policy has been developed in consultation with:

  • Franklin Harbor Oyster Growers
  • South Australian Oyster Growers Association
  • District Council of Franklin Harbour
  • key government agencies, including:
    • Environment Protection Authority
    • Department for Infrastructure and Transport
    • Department for Trade and Investment
    • Department for Environment and Water
    • Department for Housing and Urban Development.
