Snapper Science Stakeholder Group
A fundamental component of the Snapper Science Program is collaboration between stakeholders and researchers, to assist the recovery of a community-shared resource.
A Snapper Science Stakeholder Group (SSSG) has been established to ensure critical stakeholder input is captured and built into the design of the program. It brings together representatives from commercial, charter boat, recreational, and Aboriginal and traditional fishing sectors who meet regularly with researchers to discuss progress and the direction of projects.
The group operates in an open and consultative manner to deliver outcomes that advance the Snapper Science Program. SSSG acts as the primary channel for information sharing and co-ordination of activities between their stakeholder groups.
Representatives are responsible for conveying feedback from their respective stakeholders to researchers, and for providing their groups with research updates following each meeting.
Communiques are produced after each meeting, providing a summary of topics discussed at SSSG meetings.
