Oysterlinc Pty Ltd
The Fisheries and Aquaculture Division of the Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) is undertaking a targeted stakeholder consultation process for an application received from Oysterlinc Pty Ltd, which seeks to vary an existing aquaculture lease held under the Aquaculture Act 2001.
Consultation closes 5.00 pm on 22 April 2026.
Location
The application relates to an existing 1.0 hectare aquaculture lease (LA00231) and its corresponding licence (AQ00175) located in the Point Longnose aquaculture zone, prescribed under the Aquaculture (Zones – Coffin Bay) Policy 2008.
The current location of the aquaculture lease and licence is approximately 11.8 kilometres west-southwest from the township of Wangary.
Approved farming methods and species
The aquaculture activity is currently approved for the farming of Pacific oyster (Magallana gigas) using contained racks and longlines.
Proposed variation
The application seeks to relocate the 1.0 hectare lease and licence approximately 40 metres east of its current location to adjoin the applicant’s neighbouring lease (LA00232). Half of the lease (0.5 hectares) will remain in its current approved location. The benthic habitat at the proposed lease location is sand with turfing algae and seagrass detritus.
