There are 6 regional wine funds and a statewide fund for grape growers, helping industry to be innovative, adopt best practice, and obtain necessary resources.

About grapes and wine

South Australia accounts for almost 80% of the nation's premium wine, produced from some of the oldest vines in the world. We dominate the wine industry with over 700 wineries, which represent just under half of the country's vineyards.

Our capital city, Adelaide, is internationally renowned as Australia's home of gourmet food and wine tourism.

In 2022–23 our wine industry generated $1.9 billion in revenue for South Australia – learn more in the wine toolkit.
