About commercial fishing

PIRSA is responsible for the ecologically sustainable development of the state's aquatic resources. We also administer the Fisheries Management Act 2007. This is achieved through:

  • protecting aquatic environments
  • licensing and registering fisheries and fish processors
  • developing fisheries management plans
  • delivering scientific research and innovation
  • increasing trade and investment in conjunction with industry.
