About commercial fishing
PIRSA is responsible for the ecologically sustainable development of the state's aquatic resources. We also administer the Fisheries Management Act 2007. This is achieved through:
- protecting aquatic environments
- licensing and registering fisheries and fish processors
- developing fisheries management plans
- delivering scientific research and innovation
- increasing trade and investment in conjunction with industry.
