SA property clearance certificates for exporters
Exporters must meet importing country requirements and hold specific approvals before transporting livestock overseas.
This includes a licence issued by the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Find out about the exporting process, including import protocols.
PIRSA's Animal Biosecurity division provides property clearance certification as part of the export process, which verifies your property has had no incidence of a notifiable endemic or exotic disease. The certificates are needed prior to:
- exporting livestock, genetic material, and table eggs from South Australia
- moving stock to an export holding facility.
Request a clearance certificate
Email us with the following information to request a South Australian property clearance certificate:
- The details of each property to be cleared:
- property identification code (PIC)
- owner's name – both vendor name and trading name
- owner's address – preferably a location rather than a postal address.
- Livestock information:
- species
- purpose (e.g. breeding)
- approximate numbers to be exported if known – this is not essential for issuing certificates.
- The intended export date if known, to help prioritise processing the request.
- Import protocol, available under the Manual of Importing Country Requirements (MICoR).
- Signed vendor declaration, authorising Animal Biosecurity to disclose the property disease status to the exporter – this will only be used if a property cannot be cleared, to allow release of relevant information. The declaration must be signed by the owner of the property, not the agent or exporter.
- Notifiable disease testing results – the exporter must disclose to PIRSA all positive results of testing for, and suspicion of, notifiable diseases.
Exporters should allow 5 working days for issuing certificates. Turn-around times within 48 hours can be requested for double the standard charge rate.
Subsequent requests from other vendors or properties for the same shipment can refer to the destination and consignment number of the initial request.
