Applications are now open for the prestigious AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award, Australia’s leading award recognising and supporting the essential role women play in rural industries, businesses and communities.
The award aims to enhance the prosperity of rural and regional Australia while supporting women on their leadership journey with access to networks, development, and opportunities.
Proudly sponsored in South Australia by the Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA), the award provides a platform to inspire women to use and develop their skills for the benefit of their industries and communities.
State and territory winners receive a $15,000 Westpac grant to grow an existing project, business, or program, alongside leadership development opportunities and access to a strong alumni network.
This year, South Australian entrepreneur Kelly Johnson was named the 2025 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award winner for SA for her work in transforming food waste into eco-conscious meals.
Over the past two decades, more than 350 women have taken part in the program, delivering innovative projects and creating positive change across rural and regional Australia.
Winners join an influential alumni of leaders who continue to shape perceptions of women in rural industries and support future participants.
To complement the award, the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Acceleration Grant is also now open. This initiative supports women who have an idea, not yet launched or ready to launch, by providing professional development and resources to help bring their idea to life.
The application process for the award and the acceleration grant is separate. Learn more about the Rural Women's Award.
Applications for the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award close on Friday, 7 November 2025.
