New Function Centre for the Yorke Peninsula Field Days

A project to construct a new multi-purpose function centre for the Yorke Peninsula Field Days will receive a $400,000 boost from the Malinauskas Government’s Enabling Infrastructure Program.

The biennial field day is the largest in South Australia and a major event on the Yorke Peninsula’s calendar, making a significant contribution to the economy each time.

In addition to being used as a Field Days venue, the new centre will be an ongoing asset for the region and particularly the local farming community with it available throughout the year for other activities including training, conferences and social events.
The new facility will also ensure more comfortable facilities for local TAFE students and other users of the Field Days site.

The project will create three full time equivalent jobs during construction and is expected to bring ongoing hospitality job opportunities.

It is anticipated that regular use of the Field Days site generated through the new facility will also provide direct economic benefit to the Paskeville community and have flow on benefits to the adjacent towns of Moonta, Wallaroo and Kadina.

Founded in 1894, the Yorke Peninsula Field Days is run by a small staff assisted by up to 150 volunteers from farmers to local service club members.
