Illegal fishing gear
Fishing gear is deemed illegal in South Australia if it:
- is not listed as permitted fishing gear
- does not conform to legal dimensions and requirements.
If you use any items that are not compliant, they may be seized and forfeited.
Prohibited items
Use of the below devices is strictly prohibited:
- bait or cast nets
- crab traps
- drum nets
- fish traps
- gill nets
- opera house nets or yabby pots
- set lines or springers.
Report illegal gear
Report suspicious or illegal fishing activity, including use of prohibited gear via:
- the SA Fishing app
- Fishwatch: 1800 065 522.
