Grains and crops

Grain and crop industries

We help South Australia's grain and crop industries by working with businesses, grain traders and exporters, grain processors, and the community.

We support whole-of-chain growth for a sustainable grain industry, seeking opportunities for research, development, and investment.

About grains and crops

Our continuing goals ensure that grain production systems are environmentally sustainable. Any changes to the scope of the grains industry are beneficial to rural and regional areas.

Our crop sciences developments have delivered adaptable varieties and helped to minimise crop disease and pest risks.

We keep the industry value chain internationally competitive by checking that grains satisfy specific market demands, before they leave South Australia. In 2022–23 our field crops industry generated $5.1 billion in farmgate revenue for South Australia.
