Kris Lloyd, AM

Kris Lloyd is an acclaimed artisan cheese maker whose name is also synonymous with business innovation.

She is Chief Executive and Head Cheese Maker of Woodside Cheese Wrights, which has won a multitude of industry awards, including gold medals at the World Cheese Awards. As part of that success, she has developed a range of seasonal cheeses and cheeses that incorporate native ingredients.

In 2010, Kris won the Telstra Business Women's national award for business innovation and the following year was presented with an Adelaide Food Legend Award for her commitment to the industry in setting up the Artisan Cheese Making Academy Australia.

She also established the specialist association Cheese SA, which introduced industry-driven education and training programs, and was the founder of the successful annual CheeseFest, which has now expanded to celebrate other fermented products under the banner of Ferment the Festival.

Kris describes herself as a parochial South Australian and was appointed Queen’s Birthday Honours for significant service to the artisan cheese making industry, to education and to tourism.
