Soil analysis sensor – OneTemp, Hobo
The Hobo soil moisture kit is a solution for growers to improve irrigation management and crop yields.
Benefits
The live data link is a robust tool to analyse real-time information and produce detailed reports. It helps farmers make informed decisions about irrigation, planting and crop maintenance.
How it works
The kit includes the MicroRX station, which uses web-enabled technology to remotely monitor sites and notify growers of important events.
It also uses the Hobonet range of 3 wireless sensors, providing accurate and precise measurements of the soil qualities:
- The Hobonet Teros 12 works with the Hobonet system. It provides advanced soil moisture (volumetric water content) measurements with better accuracy and precision, and measures soil temperature and electrical conductivity.
- The Hobonet Teros 21 works with the Hobonet system to measure both soil temperature and water potential. It is a more accurate way to see how much water is available to plants, designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions. This sensor doesn’t require calibration for different soil types or salinity.
- The Hobonet multi-depth soil moisture sensor works with the Hobonet system. It measures soil moisture and temperature at multiple depths with a single probe, for fast and easy installation.
With the Hobolink software, you can access data from a web browser at any time.

Installation and power
Each kit is easily expandable with a range of plug-and-play sensors that can be installed by the producer.
It uses built-in solar power for battery charging.
Connectivity requirements
The soil kit setup runs off the RX2106, which is mounted on the weather station, creating a wireless field monitoring solution. It has the option to connect up to 50 wireless sensors with 600m line of sight range.
Connectivity to the cloud via 4G.
Pricing model
Upfront cost with ongoing subscription costs.
