Monday 3 July 2023

The top 10 towns still in contention for the Ag Town of the Year have been decided following a popular vote from around the state.

Given 2 towns came in at tenth with equal votes, the top 10 is in fact a top 11. They are, in order of voting:

  • Myponga
  • Waikerie
  • Jamestown
  • Bordertown
  • Orroroo
  • Strathalbyn
  • Wudinna
  • Eudunda
  • Ardrossan
  • Crystal Brook
  • Yunta.

These towns will now be invited to provide written submissions to be reviewed by a panel of independent judges, who will select 3 finalist towns. The finalists will soon be visited for assessment, with one ultimately proclaimed the South Australian Ag Town of the Year for 2023.

The winner will be announced at the Regional Showcase Awards Celebration Evening on Thursday 9 November 2023.

The award highlights the importance of developing and maintaining a strong and vibrant agriculture sector in South Australia by recognising towns excelling in agricultural practices, strengthening their region, and supporting a vibrant and resilient community.
