On-farm carbon monitoring – ESpy Earth
Espy Earth is not yet commercially available and is undergoing on-farm testing of methane monitoring.
Benefits
ESpy Earth may enable producers to build a baseline benchmark to monitor carbon levels and biodiversity. This can inform management decisions around reducing carbon emissions.
Technology monitoring in these areas will allow:
- future carbon incentive schemes to be streamlined
- producers to provide evidence of their carbon footprint management to customers.
How it works
ESpy Earth combines an on-farm sensor with satellite imagery to monitor methane production.
The sensor measures methane directly at the ground level, providing calibration and validation of levels. The satellite estimates methane across your entire farm using spectral absorption of light in the atmosphere.
The ESpy software records baseline levels, satellite images and weather data for easy monitoring and reporting. Estimates of plant health, soil moisture, CO2 and biodiversity are also a possibility.

Installation and power
The ground sensor is solar powered, including a battery and sim. It can be installed by the producer.
No installation or power is required for the satellite.
Connectivity requirements
The ground sensor requires a network to send information to the server. A satellite only option uses a standard internet connection.
Pricing model
Pricing is dependent on property size and option chosen.
A complimentary report showing information from a single satellite pass over is possible.
